Temperature controllers and thermostats are all used as temperature control equipment, but they are different in control mode, application range, precision and so on. This article introduces the differences between them from the following three aspects.

Control Mode:

Temperature controllers are a kind of programmable controller. It can obtain the temperature information of the controlled object through the sensor, then compares, calculates and processes it, and thus carries out PID control. A temperature controller, with traits of high precision, stable performance, strong reliability, adopts digital control and can meet a variety of temperature control requirements, which is definitely one of the best temperature control solutions on the market.

However, the thermostats are an electrical appliance with a simple function of simple switches, control and temperature adjustment together. Thermostats can be divided into two types, respectively mechanical one and electronic one. The mechanical thermostat controls the temperature directly by rotating the temperature adjusting rod while has the defects of small adjustment range and low precision. The electronic thermostat measures the temperature through the sensor and realizes the tracking and control through the chip control, which can realize the temperature control with high precision, fast response and high reliability.

Application Range:

① Temperature controllers:

The temperature controller has a wider range of application, and can be used for various occasions, including electric heating, electric cooling, electric oven, and constant temperature and humidity. Besides, temperature controllers are widely used in various fields such as food, medical treatment and chemical industry, and are an indispensable part in various automated production lines.

② Thermostats:

Thermostats are usually used in small electric heating equipment, such as oven, electric water heater, induction cooker, and other household appliances.

① Temperature controllers:

The precision of the temperature controller is higher, and the temperature control with high reliability can usually be achieved, especially the digital controller, which can achieve high temperature control precision, fast speed and rapid response.

② Thermostats:

Thermostat’s precision is relatively low, which is difficult to meet the complex temperature control needs, but it is portable and easy enough to carry, and can be used at any time.

Economical intelligent digital PID

When selecting temperature control equipment, the most suitable product should be selected according to the actual needs. If high precision is required, related performance requirements are strict, or main automation is required in the production environment, the temperature controller will be an excellent choice. But if it is just an ordinary household appliance, a thermostat is more suitable.

Conclusion: Although the functions of a temperature controller and a thermostat are similar, there are differences in control mode, application range and accuracy. When purchasing temperature control equipment, it is necessary to choose one according to specific needs to meet different application requirements.
